New York futures Exchange, New York Mercantile Exchange, NYMEX, established in 1882, occupies the 1st place in the world for trading oil futures.
In 1994, has teamed up with the exchange COMEX (Commodity Exchange), which has existed as an independent stock exchange since 1933, occupying leading positions in the North American market in the trade of non-ferrous metals. on August 4, 1994, the stock exchange merged under the name of the New York Mercantile Exchange, NYMEX.
In 2008, the New York futures Exchange has joined the group of the Chicago Mercantile exchange CME group, which functions as a single market.
At the present time the trade goes in the two units of the exchange:
1.NYMEX: oil, gas, platinum, palladium, ethanol, coal, electricity, emissions of carbon dioxide.
2.COMEX: gold, silver, copper and aluminum.
