Financial assets is a specific form of ownership, involving the receipt of income.
With the help of financial assets and is the overflow of financial resources in society (from those who have their surplus to those who need them). The price of the financial asset is fixed at the level of the ratio of the demand and supply on the market.

The issuers and the owners of financial assets may be different actors in the financial market: the state in the person of Central and local bodies of power and control, economic entities, legal entities. The issuers of some assets may only be certain, the law, subjects of the market, issuers others financial assets can act as a state, and a wide range of subjects of the market. For example, the bonds can be issued both government and a wide range of legal entities, the Issuer of the shares may be only a joint stock company. Issuers of promissory notes in the majority of countries can be both legal and physical persons in Ukraine - only to legal entities. One or the other entity of the financial market may simultaneously act of the Issuer of financial assets and the owner of the other. For example, commercial Bank, which has issued and placed on the market of own shares, acts in the role of investor, when buys domestic government loan bonds.
Among issuers in relation to fulfil its financial obligations to the investors, the state is considered to be the most reliable, as it may fulfill its obligations to the investors, even in cases where the result of such compliance will be increasing the level of inflation or other negative consequences in the economy of the country.
Financial instruments are classified in respect of the right of ownership:
> The main (basic) financial instruments;
> Derivative financial instruments
The main financial instruments - financial assets which are based on the property rights of the financial asset.
The assets may be securities, interest rates, stock indices, commodity resources, precious metals, foreign exchange and other.
